Texas A&M Mobile Initiative

Primary Contact: Allison Oslund, Texas A&M Division of Information Technology

Project Overview: The Mobile Strategy Team is tasked with guiding the campus strategy to maximize mobile's potential in support of the university's mission. The Mobile Strategy Team was established in spring 2012 at the request of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Information Technology. The team formulated the Texas A&M mobile position statement, reviewed ways to help the campus transition websites to be mobile friendly, prepared the mobile strategy statement and created gomobile.tamu.edu, a resource for campus decision makers and web developers.

The team has formed two working groups: the Technical Working Group, which will continue to research mobile technologies to ensure the recommendations stay up-to-date, and the Outreach Working Group, which will pursue presentations for key groups to educate the campus on the mobile strategy.

Benefits: Meeting mobile web demands assists engaging key audiences, especially prospective, current and former students. Going mobile supports the university's educational mission by making information accessible on any web-capable mobile device through technologies that are easy to deploy and maintain.
