Department: Networking (AD Rudy Supak)
Project Scope: The Infoblox implementation will replace the current in-house system NIM (Network Information Manager) with an appliance-based Infoblox system. This new DDI (DNS/DHCP/IP Address Manager) will provide better control and reporting concerning access to hostnames and IP addresses across the Texas A&M network. This project will deliver the ability to manage IPv6 addresses and provide instance deployment of DNS changes. The Infoblox system also includes a DNS firewall to help protect users from known malware domains and provide reports of infected machines back to the Security Operation Center. Implementing this system requires replacing all DNS (Domain Name Service) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) servers across the Texas A&M Network that are maintained by Texas A&M IT.
Timeline: Q3 2015 through Q4 2016
