Texas A&M Information Technology departments are affiliated with a number of campus, state and national initiatives providing expertise, leadership, support and resources.
Members of Texas A&M IT plays an active role in the development of the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN). LEARN is cooperative effort of higher education institutions and organizations in Texas working to provide high-speed, fiber-optic connectivity among their institutions, as well as to research networks around the world.
Members of Texas A&M IT are part of Texas A&M's contingent promoting Internet2. Internet2 is a consortium of universities, including Texas A&M, working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies. Texas A&M and Internet2 signed an agreement to create the first Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC) focused on Voice over IP. CIS and Telecommunications are providing support for this project.
